Welcome to the first of many dives into the Noble houses of my world, Egaar! Today, we are looking at the House of Lignaard, a well-known house from the Tarantulan Empire, with close ties to the Tarantulan royal family. This write up provides a brief summary of different aspects of the house and roughly follows my guide: The Makings of Nobility. It has been a while since I sat and wrote any form of narrative and I feel that I have gotten out of practise writing stories. To combat this, I have decided to use writing prompts to create short scenes of fiction entirely on the spot. These began as ’10 minute writing prompts’ but I quickly found that I needed longer to achieve my desired outcomes. I intend to share these pieces with you all as I progress and shall endeavour to share one piece every week. What follows is the first of these Fantasy Shorts: Corncakes

Do you ever struggle to create realistic creatures for your fantasy worlds? Ever struggle to understand how to create different breeds or sub species of animal? Then today is your lucky day, as we begin our exploration into building a fantasy bestiary.
Now there is probably some logical starting point for this sort of thing, such as microorganisms or insects, but I personally enjoy writing what currently piques my interest. So today we will begin with the animal commonly referred to as man’s best friend; the dog. Whether this accolade is truly accurate in today’s society is highly debatable due to the vast amounts of other pets now owned by mankind. But looking back through history, the dog certainly has a commendable record of service to humanity.
Let us now dive into the interesting history of the dog and explore how it was used, and indeed can be used in both the real world and our own creations. I will, as always weave in fantastical interpretations and ramblings as we go and may give some examples from my world to hopefully inspire your own creations. Enjoy!

Fantasy Field Trip: Ludlow Castle
Ever stuck for fantasy writing ideas? Or struggle to bring a setting to life? Then turn off the computer, forget about writing for an hour and go on a Fantasy Field Trip! Whenever I fancy a break from writing I will often venture out to interesting locations nearby. Whether meaning to or not, I will often return from my escapades brimming with ideas and inspiration drawn from different places I visit. What follows is a documentation of one of my excursions and an explanation of my random thoughts and ideas drawn from what I have seen. Hopefully it may give you an insight into the random way things rattle around my brain and may possibly inspire you to view the world similarly. Enjoy!
